Charles
Edward Martinez (Chuck) was born in 1960 in Oceanside
California, the only son of Charles and Isidra Martinez.
Childhood was on the beaches and in the sunshine of
southern California. High school years were in the
sand and wind of the Mojave Desert.
In 1979, Chuck joined the US
Marines and received training in the fields of
communication electronics, unmanned air vehicles, and
technical instruction. For the next ten
years, the specialty of these skills would take him to
Europe, Central America, and the Far East.
While on leave from the military
and in southern California, Chuck met Robin Gail Baber,
a self-employed businesswoman and entrepreneur.
Chuck
married Robin in December 1988 and made their home in
Twenty Nine Palms, CA near the sprawling Marine Corps
base to which he was assigned. The following year,
their only child, Rachael Ann was born.
Chuck left the military in 1990 to
pursue strong invitation into the Defense Contracting
industry. And immediately began working in
Government projects that research, develop, and train
unmanned technologies. Relocation to South East
Arizona also made for a new church home in Shiloh
Christian Center.
A shift in personal interest began
in 1996; focus on corporate
achievement began to fade while there was a sharpening
of prospective on missions. For the next seven
years, mission trip after mission trip followed in
Mexico and Central America. Experience in mission
administration increased as Chuck became active in
mission board activities, first as observer, member, and
then president.
Chuck
accepted his last government assignment in 2003 to the
country of Iraq; tasked to accompany and complete
training of soldiers assigned to that war torn setting.
In going about his professional duties, there would be
ample opportunity to witness and share the Gospel of
Jesus Christ with many of the soldiers around him
In
2004, Chuck and his wife Robin
were sent out as full time missionaries from their home
church in Arizona, Shiloh Christian Center.
Relocating to Tulsa OK, Chuck joined with and received
commission through Alpha Aviation Mission Outreach
Center. There he earned an instrument rating,
commercial pilot certificate, and logged over 500 flight
hours. In addition, Chuck gained four years of
experience maintaining mission aircraft while earning
certification as an A&P mechanic.
March
2008, Chuck and Robin received acceptance and commission
as missionaries working with Living Water Teaching, in
Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. As a minister, Chuck’s
primary focus is to touch the people with the Gospel of
Jesus Christ, by word and example. In addition,
Chuck will use his skills in aviation to accomplish the
ministry needs of Living Water Teaching and to speed the
gospel to the people in Latin America
